You Know Who... Digs Through the Archives

Roberta Flack 1937-2025 Today I paid tribute to the recently deceased Roberta Flack, joked (too soon) about how a pissed off pet cat maybe responsible for the deaths of Gene Hackman and his whole family (bad taste, I know), and explored my love/hate relationship with Journey. Also played some amazing songs by Talking Heads, Joe Jackson, and Edgar Winter’s White Trash.   Click here to check it out: LICRadio 2/27/2025     Rick Wakeman “Anne of Cleves” (Rick Wakeman) BBC Studios, London, UK, 2/27/73 Studio version released on The Six Wives of Henry VIII   (A&M, 1973)     Roberta Flack "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)" (Michael McDonald, Ed Sanford, Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller) City Hall, Sheffield, UK, 10/22/84 Originally recorded and released by Michael McDonald on If That’s What It Takes   (Warner Bros., 1982)     Daddy Long Legs “C—ksucker Blues” (Mick Jagger, Keith Richards) Single A-side (Norton, 2010)     The Mynah ...

Jamie Muir 1942-2025 How did it sound out there? Personally, I felt like there were tons of audio issues, which is a shame because there were plenty of good tunes today. We started off by paying tribute to percussionist Jamie Muir (November 30, 1942 – February 17, 2025), known for his work with King Crimson and The Music Improvisation Company, as well as drummer Rick Buckler of The Jam (December 6, 1955 – February 17, 2025). Evidently, Monday was a bad day for players of the skins. We did a side-by-side comparison of Oasis’ “Whatever” and Neil Innes’ “How Sweet to Be an Idiot” to try to get an idea where inspiration ends and plagiarism begins, and then played some really bad Star Trek related stuff. In celebration of Walter Becker’s birthday, there was some ultra-rare Steely Dan stuff towards the end. Overall, worth a listen. Oof. I nearly lost my shit trying to get today’s show together, and I had two weeks to do it! There was too much material and too little time. Being that it is Peter Gabriel’s birthday, I could have gone on for hours. Apologies to Jimmy Smith, Hall & Oates, Fleetwood Mac, and others whose songs were cut for time.
