You Know Who... Tells You Lies

(I must have seen the Disney movie at some point. I will say that if you haven’t seen the 2019 Italian live-action version, it’s pretty fantastic.) It is in celebration of this “holiday” that the show had a bunch of great songs about liars and lying. It is not surprising that there were plenty to choose from.   Beyond that, the show features a variety of genres (country-rock to Kraut-rock to blues-rock to prog-rock) and a lot of left turns, which I think I navigated pretty well.   Of course, it wouldn’t be LIC Radio if something didn’t go horribly horribly wrong, and today it was a spam/scam call which evidently silences all of the music apps and cut off the final tune of the show. So that sucked. I fumbled to try to ge...

"Cow Milked While Flying in an Airplane Day" is celebrated annually on February 18 to commemorate the day in 1930 when a cow named Nellie Jay became the first cow to be flown and milked in an airplane. The event was part of a scientific effort to study the effect of height on cows’ ability to produce milk. In the 72-mile flight over Bismarck, Missouri, Nellie’s milk was put in paper cartons and parachuted down to the spectators to generate publicity.   Today is also the 53 rd anniversary of the first episode of the King Biscuit Flower Hour .   I’m sure it’s the thing about the cow, though, that will be invading your dreams tonight.   There was music played today, too (some of it about cows).   Click here to check it out: LIC Radio 2/18/2026     Billy Cobham - George Duke Band “That’s What She Said” (George Duke) McAlister Auditorium, New Orleans, LA, 2/18/76 Studio version released by George Duke on I Love the Blues, She Heard My Cry   (MPS, 1975) ...

You Know Who... Hates Technology

Ah, February 3 rd , as they call it: “The Day the Music Died.” At a pivotal time in the emergence of rock n’ roll three major voices were silenced that helped shape the new genre, and who knows what would have happened had they not been taken away on that day in 1959. (Okay, let’s make that two major voices. Sorry Big Bopper, but you were not of the creative caliber of your tour-mates.) It was such an important day that you’d think we would have discussed it more. So it goes. Sorry, not today We actually gave more airtime to Chuck Negron, but to be fair, he passed only yesterday, and we’re still processing that. Just to give fair warning, as much as I feel like I dwell on it far too much, today was a day when technical issues really marred the show. I always like having Brett as a co-host, but our connection was today was really frazzled. I’m not even sure on whose end the problem came, but we really need to figure that out before next time. However, if you can handle Brett’s signal co...
