You Know Who... Is a Sloppy Perfectionist

  April fools! Surprised I did a show today?   Yeah, well my work schedule is always in flux (I hate my fucking job), and once again I had to throw together a show on the fly. Happily, there are plenty of songs about fools, foolishness, and being fooled. I take a bit of pride in the fact that only one of them was about be deceived in romance.   Some great shows from this day in history, even if most of them leaned a bit far into mainstream classic rock (I think most listeners won’t be too upset). The Swedish band, Europe, was a pleasant surprise for me. I forgot that they weren’t just one-hit wonders and the musicianship was much stronger than I remembered. “Rock the Night” is definitely a banger, insipid as the lyrics are.   Lastly, a birthday shout-out to the late great drummer, Jeff Porcaro. I’ve heard it said that as one of the most prolific session musicians of his era, he provided the drum sound of the 80s (barring the “gated drum” sound that Phil Collins creat...
