On this day in 1975, promoter Bill Graham staged the S.N.A.C.K. benefit concert at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Standing for “Students Need Athletics, Culture and Kicks,” the show was a benefit for the city's educational system. Almost 60,000 people came to see The Grateful Dead, The Doobie Brothers, Santana, Jefferson Starship, Tower of Power, Eddie Palmieri, Joan Baez, Graham Central Station and Neil Young joined by members of The Band along with a surprise appearance by Bob Dylan.
