You Know Who... Is Looking for His Cables

Call it "Corporate Rock" if you
want, but Journey brought the
"must-hear" track of the show.
Good show, and technically it went pretty smoothy. Ironically the only technical hiccup that happened as when I tried to prevent another technical hiccup (I had forgotten to put the iPad into a privacy mode to prevent the mishap that ended last week’s show prematurely. Evidently, opening the settings mutes other apps.). Oh well.

I knew that I had to give a shout-out to Neal Sedaka, who passed last Friday. Only during the show did the news come out about John P. Hammond. With a little behind the scenes fumbling, I was able to pay tribute to him too. (I spend a bit of time talking about how his father was active in the nascent civil rights movement, but I think I neglected to say the punchline; that the “P” stood for Paul, and was named for the legendary black singer/actor/activist Paul Robeson.)

In any event, today’s show is worth listening to if only for the Journey’s live performance of “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.” It’s finding recordings such as that which make me continue doing this thankless enterprise.
